Tom Hanks Is a Proud Father of 4 Awesome Kids! Meet His Blended Family With Wife Rita Wilson
Soulmates Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson have created a beautiful life together. After getting married in April 1988, they welcomed their two sons, Chet and Truman Hanks. Tom worked hard to provide for his children and his two older kids, Colin and Elizabeth Hanks, from his first marriage to Samantha Lewes.
He showed the world just how special they are to him when he was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 2020 Golden Globes. “I’m sorry,” he said while looking at his kids and Colin’s wife, Samantha Bryant, in the audience. “A man is blessed with a family sitting down front like that. A wife who is fantastic in every way, who has taught me what love is. Five kids who are braver and stronger and wiser than their old man is.”
“And a loving group of people who have put [up] with me being away months and months and months at a time,” he added. “Of course, otherwise I wouldn’t be standing up here if they didn’t have to put up with that. I can’t tell you how much your love means to me.”
In his speech, Tom said he had five kids because he sees Samantha as one of his children. The Toy Story actor welcomed her into his life when the publicist got married to Colin in May 2010. One year later, they welcomed daughter Olivia Hanks and their second child, Charlotte Hanks, in 2013. Like his dad, Colin decided to pursue a career in acting to take care of his family.
In a previous interview with TV Insider, the House Bunny star revealed the best acting advice he ever got from his Oscar-winning dad. “I’ve been doing this for so long now that there’s no real advice aside from what he told me very early on, which is show up on time, have your lines memorized, and prepare to work.”
Because of that important life lesson, Colin has starred in many TV shows and films like Jumanji: The Next Level and Fargo. However, he isn’t the only one who has seen a lot of success. His siblings have done very well for themselves too.
