Tom Selleck Being Sued for Stealing Water During California Drought

Tom Selleck has landed himself in a bit of trouble.

According to E! News, the 70-year-old actor is being sued by the Calleguas Municipal Water District over allegedly using a public hydrant to fill a commercial water tank — which he then took to his 60-acre ranch for personal use — during the California drought.

The lawsuit — filed with Ventura County Superior Court on Monday, July 6 — states the former Friends star should not have taken the water because he resides in the Hidden Valley Municipal Water District, not the Calleguas district.

Furthermore, Calleguas district claims they had to pay a private investigator more than $21,000 to prove the water was, in fact, unlawfully taken by Tom and used at his home on 12 different occasions during the drought, most recently in March 2015.

The documents also state the star and his wife, Jillie Mack, continued using the water after the municipality sent them two cease-and-desist letters to both of his California homes in 2013.
