Two Soap Icons Return to ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ Set For a Very Special Day
Susan Flannery and Ian Buchanan visited the ‘Bold and Beautiful’ set, delighting fans with a reunion of two beloved soap opera legends at their old stomping grounds.
It was a big day on The Bold and the Beautiful set when two beloved stars paid a visit on Tuesday. Susan Flannery and Ian Buchanan, two old friends who spent decades on soaps and B&B, visited their old stomping grounds for a fun afternoon.
B&B’s executive producer, Casey Kasprzyck, posted an adorable video on Instagram of Buchanan and Flannery riding around the studio lot on a golf cart.
“OGs back at Bold and Beautiful today,” the post read.
B&B’s set decorator and production designer Lou A. Trabbie IIIalso posted a photo of himself and Flannery, writing, “What an absolute pleasure to have The Legend #susanflannery visit the show today. We Love You!”
Flannery began her soap opera career on Days of our Lives in 1966, where she played Dr. Laura Horton for nearly a decade, per IMDb. In 1987, she returned to daytime television as one of B&B’s original cast members. As Stephanie Forrester, the matriarch of the Forrester clan, Flannery ruled the roost with an iron fist.
Flannery retired in 2012 when Stephanie died of cancer. In 2025, the actress moved from Los Angeles to Australia. Her former DAYS co-star Susan Seaforth Hayesrevealed the news on Instagram with photos of her with Flannery and Suzanne Rogers (Maggie Horton, DAYS).
“Susan Flannery, one of the great ladies of daytime or anywhere she turns up, is moving to Australia,” Seaforth Hayes wrote. “Flannery was a beloved mentor and pal to Suzanne and me in our early Salem Days together. Laughs, love, tears, hugs… just like Salem. We will miss her.”
Buchanan got his daytime start as Duke Lavery on General Hospital, where he made guest appearances until 2020, per IMDb. He also played Dr. James Warwick on B&B off and on from 1993 to 2017. Will Buchanan turn up on B&B again one day? On soaps, it’s always a possibility.
