While Sharon Osbourne and Ozzy Osbourne‘s younger children, Kelly Osbourne and Jack Osbourne, achieved Hollywood superstardom at a young age, the couple’s eldest daughter, Aimee Osbourne, seemingly slipped out of the spotlight. However, there’s still so much to know about the rock ‘n’ roll couple’s kid.

Growing up, Aimee — who was born on September 2, 1983 — wasn’t too thrilled about her parents’ fame and fortune. In fact, throughout most of their decades-long careers, Aimee chose to pass up on plenty of opportunities for A-list celebrity status.

Aimee yearned to be out of the limelight so badly that she actually moved out of her parents’ house as a teenager. During an episode of The Talk, Sharon said Aimee made the decision because she couldn’t stand filming their family’s reality show, The Osbournes.

“I know that my eldest girl, Aimee, left home at 16 and she couldn’t live in our house because we were filming and it drove her insane. She felt, too, that she didn’t want to grow up on camera. She hated the idea, it was appalling to her,” Sharon recalled. “And so she left at 16 and I regret every day that she did.”

Looking back, Aimee said she had a pretty good reason for not wanting to be a part of the production. “Everywhere you went, people wanted to know everything, and that when you’re growing up that can be kind of intimidating,” she once explained to Nylon. “The idea of kind of letting it all out there at that point, at around 15 … nobody at 15 wants anybody to see how goofy their parents are.”

It wasn’t until she was older that the brunette beauty opened her eyes to all the potential possibilities in Hollywood. Not only did Aimee begin appearing in TV shows and films, including her casting in MTV’s 2003 adaptation of Wuthering Heights, she also followed in her father’s footsteps and became an accomplished musician.

While chatting with Nylon, Aimee got candid about her decision to stay away from the spotlight as a young girl. “I think, you know, when people say, ‘Why the choice?’ … it didn’t even feel like, ‘Should I or shouldn’t I?'” she shared at the time. “It was just not my aspiration.”

Although fans would’ve loved to watch Aimee grow up on TV, others just couldn’t be happier that she finally decided to display her talent for all the world to see.
