Michael Douglas is set to tell his life story.

The award-winning actor will release a memoir this fall, he and Grand Central Publishing announced on Wednesday, February 12.

Douglas, 81, shared the news in a video posted to social media.

“I’m writing a book, a biography, with the help of Michael Fleming [Jr.],” the actor said. “We started about six months ago and it’s going to be released on October 6 by Grand Central publishing.”

“There’s a lot to tell before I forget but I’m remembering a lot, so I hope everybody will enjoy it and give you a little insight into what I’ve been doing the past 80 plus years,” Douglas continued.

Pre-orders for the untitled memoir went live on February 12.

According to the publisher, the book will trace Douglas’s journey from growing up as the son of Hollywood legend Kirk Douglas to building a career of his own in the film and television industry.

“For the first time, Douglas is ready to tell the unfiltered story of his life in a raw, career-sweeping memoir that traces his journey from his father, Kirk Douglas’ shadow to his own stardom,” Grand Central’s announcement reads in part, according to the Daily Mail.

Over the course of more than five decades, Douglas — whose been married to actress Catherine Zeta-Jones since 2000 —  has become one of Hollywood’s most decorated actors. He has won two Academy Awards, a BAFTA Award, five Golden Globes, a Primetime Emmy, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and the AFI Life Achievement Award.

He is known for roles in films including Romancing the Stone, Fatal Attraction, Wall Street, Basic Instinct, Wonder Boys, Traffic and Behind the Candelabra, among others, as well as for producing One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture.

The memoir is expected to explore his upbringing, career highs and personal struggles, offering a closer look at the experiences that shaped his life on and off screen.
