Barbara Walters Wants Monica Lewinsky to Replace Rosie O’Donnell on ‘The View’

In the wake of Rosie O'Donnell's recent exit from The View, show creator Barbara Walters has her sights set on bringing someone new to the co-host table — Monica Lewinsky.

According to a new report, Barbara, 85, thinks the former White House intern, 41, would be a "run away success" on the popular daytime talk show.

"Barbara believes that Monica could make 'The View' competitive and compelling," an insider revealed in a new interview. "While a lot of Washington's elite may scratch the show off its must-visit press list, the younger demographic of online users would tune in daily to see what she had to say."

"Barbara has been like a godmother to Monica ever since their infamous interview in 1999 following the Bill Clinton scandal," the source told 'The Daily Mail.'

Since Rosie, 53, left the show in early February, co-hosts Rosie Perez, 50, Nicolle Wallace, 43, and Whoopi Goldberg, 59, have been joined by a slew of guest panelists.

Though no action has been taken thus far to officially replace Rosie, ABC is reportedly considering singer Michelle Williams, former 'What Not to Wear' host Stacy London and comedienne Michelle Collins as potential replacements.

Barbara served as a guest host on 'The View' on March 26, 2015.

While Monica's future involvement on 'The View' remains unconfirmed, the 'Associated Press' announced today that Barbara is coming out of retirement to host a new crime series on the Investigation Discovery network.

On the upcoming program — which is set to air this October — the veteran journalist will provide viewers with updates on well-known cases she previously reported on earlier in her career.
