‘Boston Blue’ Star Donnie Wahlberg Praises Pilots After Las Vegas Flight Scare: ‘They Saved Our Lives’
Donnie Wahlberg survived a frightening private plane incident in Las Vegas, and he credited the pilots onboard for saving their lives.
Boston Blue and Blue Bloods star Donnie Wahlberg has opened up about a frightening private plane incident that left him shaken over the weekend. A private flight that Wahlberg and a handful of others were on skidded off a runway in Las Vegas, and the entertainer thanked the pilots for keeping everyone safe.
In a video shared on Instagram on October 18, Wahlberg acknowledged he was “getting a lot of concerned messages and texts about my flights failed attempt at leaving Las Vegas this morning…I appreciate your concern and well wishes.”
Wahlberg explained that he initially made the video he posted to share privately with friends and family. However, he decided, “So many of you all are my family too so I figured I’d share it with you.”
“Yes, it was me and my team/friends onboard the aircraft. It was a rather intense few minutes (which felt like a few long minutes),” the Boston Blue star added.
He credited the “incredible pilots” who did an “amazing job of keeping us safe and avoiding a serious disaster.” In the video itself, Wahlberg emotionally stated, “These pilots, they saved our lives.”
Wahlberg explained that as the flight was taking off from Las Vegas, it failed to get in the air before running out of runway space.
“God is good,” Wahlberg added as he pointed out everything on the ground that the pilots managed to keep the plane from hitting.
While the pilots managed to avoid hitting multiple heavy items on the ground, there was one fence they couldn’t steer clear from. Emergency personnel were on the ground prepared to help, and Wahlberg said everybody was fine.
Fans filled the comment section of Wahlberg’s Instagram post with notes expressing their relief that everybody was fine. Several fans noted they had heard about the incident with the plane but, until his post, had no idea that it was Wahlberg on the plane.
One comment read, “Oh Donnie!!!!! We were trying to figure out if this was you last night. I am sooooo thankful you are okay. Praise God!!!!”
Thousands of Wahlberg’s fans commented on Facebook after he posted the same video and caption. Several suggested that his mother, Alma Wahlberg, who died at 78 in April 2021, must have been watching over him.
According to People, the private flight had eight people on board and was headed to Toronto.
Wahlberg’s flight came after the final New Kids on the Block show of their residency in Las Vegas. A post on X, formerly Twitter, from the Harry Reid International Airport confirmed that an airplane skidded off a runway and hit a perimeter fence. Two runways were closed for a short time for inspection.
