‘Chicago Fire’ Fans React as Another Major Star Exits Ahead of Season 15

Chicago Fire fans are buzzing over the news that Season 15 will bring another goodbye among the Firehouse 51 crew. Just days after Joe Miñoso (Joe Cruz) revealed he was departing, news has now emerged indicating that Dermot Mulroney is leaving as well.

According to Deadline, Mulroney will leave “early” in Season 15. The actor has been on Chicago Fire since Season 13, playing Chief Dom Pascal. He joined the series after the former Firehouse 51 chief, Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker), departed.

Mulroney was away for the back half of Chicago Fire Season 14, but was involved in the finale. As news of Mulroney’s pending departure spread online, some fans admitted they essentially thought he had already left.

However, Season 14 ended with a major cliffhanger, and it seems that the outcome will have significant implications on what comes next for Firehouse 51. Several firefighters were battling a storage facility fire when the roof appeared ready to collapse.

As Deadline noted, Pascal wasn’t in the building, unlike some others, including Cruz, who were. However, Pascal is still deeply involved, working with his team on the outside to save everybody.

Chicago Fire fans have admitted they are nervous about how the character of Cruz will be written out, and now many will be curious to see if Mulroney’s exit is connected.

Many fans are disappointed, but not entirely surprised, to learn of Mulroney’s Chicago Fire exit. Some are a bit rattled by the two departure announcements coming so close together.

On Instagram, one viewer questioned, “Why are they doing this to us?!”

“I’m not surprised, although I hate to see him leave, his storyline was basically wrapped up. I guess that sets the stage for Kelly to be chief,” one fan wrote on Reddit.

One disappointed fan commented, “Booo!!! Pascal is a great character!”

Someone else speculated, “My guess is he heads/organizes the rescue from the explosion/firefighters trapped at the end of Season 14. Chicago FD goes back and forth about whether or not to reinstate him after firing him previously. He basically says he’s done with Chicago and goes back to work with his buddy in Arizona.”

With two major departures now hanging over the new season, Chicago Fire enters Season 15 facing a significant period of change. Whether Pascal’s story ends in the aftermath of the storage facility disaster or takes another unexpected turn, viewers will be watching closely when the series returns to NBC on October 7.
