‘Days of our Lives” Kristian Alfonso Looks Back on Bo and Hope’s Iconic Love Story — ‘It Was a Piece of Art’

In 2025, Days of our Lives fans finally got the happily-ever-after they had been waiting for when Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) and Hope Williams Brady (Kristian Alfonso) chose to once again travel the world after years of tragedy and heartache. Their love story, which began way back in 1983, may not have reached its conclusion, but fans finally saw their favorite supercouple in love and together again.

A decade earlier, fans watched as Bo allegedly died in Hope’s arms from a brain tumor, in the same spot where they had shared their first kiss. Through the magic of soap opera healing, fans learned that Bo had been kept cryogenically frozen and returned to Hope briefly in 2023 before being shot and lapsing into a coma.

Two years later, Bo emerged from his coma, giving fans the happy ending they’d craved, which Alfonso has said she is grateful for, noting she had expected the happily-ever-after during the couple’s previous return. Alfonso is also thankful for the beautiful love story DAYS told through the years, from that first kiss to the couple’s extravagant wedding on location in London.

“The show knew that love takes time to build,” she recently told Soap Central. “Moments are important. The first touch, zooming in. It was a piece of art.”

Bo and Hope shot to daytime fame during the DAYS supercouple era of the 1980s, with their love story beginning not two years after Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura’s (Genie Francis) legendary General Hospital wedding. Various presumed deaths, marriages, and children have brought Bo and Hope together and torn them apart through the years, but their devotion remained strong. Back in the 80s, Alfonso hadn’t realized what a phenomenon Bo and Hope would become, but she would soon learn.

“I had no idea,” she marveled. “But I know now. I was just telling my kids about it.”
