Nancy Lee Grahn has been entertaining General Hospital fans for 30 years and she is not about to stop any time soon. The actress who has brought Alexis Davis to life since 1996 made a big announcement about her status with the ABC soap.

Why Nancy Lee Grahn Is Sticking Around

During an appearance on the podcast Soapy, hosted by Days of our Lives’ Greg Rikaart (Leo) and The Bold and the Beautiful’s Rebecca Budig (Taylor), Grahn revealed that she is not going anywhere for a while. GH is her home and she is happy to stay with the 63-year-old daytime drama.

“I just re-signed my contract — another three years, and I’m so grateful for this part of my life,” Grahn said, adding, “Thank God that I get to be my age and still have this job,” she beamed. “And I still love it. I still have fun [and] it sometimes really feels good to do really good work.”

Before landing her role on GH, Grahn came to daytime fame on the NBC soap Santa Barbara. She spent eight years as attorney Julia Wainwright, joining the show in 1985 and staying with it until its cancellation in 1993. A few years later, when she decided she wanted to have a baby as a single mom, Grahn contacted GH and the rest is history.

“I could bring the baby with me,” Grahn said in a 2023 interview with Soap Opera Digest. “She could be in my dressing room with a nanny. It was just a perfect job to be a single mom with a steady income.”

As Alexis Davis for the last three decades, Grahn has seen it all and done it all. The addled attorney is always trying to do the right thing, but invariably ends up doing the wrong thing if it’s to protect her daughters. Currently, Alexis is just trying to keep her grandson safe, which is easier said than done. She might even end up falling for her ex-husband, Ric (Rick Hearst), again. With Grahn staying with GH until at least 2029, there’s plenty of time for more Alexis chaos.
