Debra Messing Slams E! for Gender Salary Inequality at 2018 Golden Globes

She just went there! This year’s Golden Globes aren’t holding back — from stars wearing all black in solidarity to those who have spoken out against sexual harassment, to sporting Time’s Up pins to bring awareness to victim’s legal defense fund, stars are putting it all out there this year.

Take, for example, Debra Messing — who slammed E! while talking to Giuliana Rancic as part of network's Live from the Red Carpet coverage. The takedown came in the form of a not-so-subtle mention of Catt Sadler’s departure from the network, a decision she made after learning a male co-host made double her salary. “I was shocked to hear that E! doesn’t believe in paying their female co-host the same as their male co-host,” the Will & Grace actress said. “I miss Catt Sadler, so we stand with her. And that’s something that can change tomorrow.”

Separately, Eva Longoria told Ryan Seacrest, “We support gender equity and equal pay, and we hope that E! follows that lead with Catt as well. We stand with you, Catt.” Ryan rebuffed, “I love Catt. We love her.”

Catt announced her plan to leave the network after learning Jason Kennedy made significantly more than she did. At the time, she wrote, “I know firsthand that dreams do come true. For the past twelve years, I've been living mine out loud as one of the hosts on E! television. For more than a decade I've walked through the doors at E! and traveled into people's living rooms around the world… Then, this year happened. Daily Pop was born. I was named host which meant double duty. Hosting a live, two-hour daytime show while also hosting E! News most nights. It was creatively challenging but genuinely one of the most fulfilling years of my professional career."

Tonight, she expressed her gratuity to Page Six. “I am immensely grateful for the outpouring of support tonight. Thank you to Amy [Schumer], Debra, Eva, Brie [Larson], Julianne [Moore], and so many more women using their voices on behalf of us all. Time’s up.”
