Elton John’s Kids Sent Lady Gaga a Bouquet of White Flowers After Her 2019 Oscars Win

Even though Lady Gaga didn’t take home the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role at the 2019 Oscars, she did win an Academy Award for Best Original Song for A Star Is Born, so Elton John‘s children had to congratulate the 32-year-old singer in the best way possible.

According to The Sun, Elton’s two kids, Zachary, 8, and Elijah, 6, sent a handwritten note and a bouquet of white flowers to their godmother, aka “Gaga mother” because they were “thrilled” for the hard-working singer. And at Sir Elton’s annual Oscars viewing party, his husband, David Furnish, told the outlet that his kids sent the note and flowers as a “good luck message” to the star.

“They said, ‘if Gaga mother wins we’ll have to send her a congratulations note’ and we are big on handwritten notes and of course flowers,” David, 56, explained, and when Lady Gaga took the stage with her co-winners Marc Ronson, Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt during the award show, she gave such an emotional acceptance speech.

“Bradley [Cooper], there is not a single person on the planet that could’ve sang this song with me but you. Thank you for believing in us. Thank you so much. And if you are at home, and you’re sitting on your couch and you’re watching this right now, all I have to say is that this is hard work. I’ve worked hard for a long time, and it’s not about, you know … it’s not about winning,” she said while tearing up. “But what it’s about is not giving up. If you have a dream, fight for it. There’s a discipline for passion. And it’s not about how many times you get rejected or fall down or beaten up. It’s about how many times you stand up and are brave and you keep on going. Thank you!”
