‘Family Matters’ Alum Reginald VelJohnson, 74, Looks Nearly Unrecognizable During Red Carpet Appearance

Reginald VelJohnson recently made a rare red carpet appearance.

On Wednesday, August 26, the 74-year-old actor was photographed at the Los Angeles Premiere of the new slasher film he’s in, Onslaught.

VelJohnson wore a fun, animal-themed outfit consisting of a top with a lion graphic, a cap with a picture of a man wearing a crown and a lion that read “Black King” and printed shoes. He accessorized his look with necklaces, bracelets, and glasses, while holding a cane in one hand.

The ’90s star famously portrayed Carl Winslow in the hit sitcom Family Matters, which ran for nine seasons from 1989 to 1998. While speaking to People in 2024, VelJohnson reflected on the series’ run, noting, “I didn’t realize it was going to go that long.”

“They said, ‘We’re going to do this show,’ and we did it,” he recalled.

In 2024, VelJohnson competed in season 33 of Dancing with the Stars. He was paired with Emma Slater and was eliminated in week three.

However, he made a return to the ballroom in December as part of the show’s holiday special, delighting fans with a heartwarming dance performance alongside Slater and Andy Richter to “All I Want for Christmas (Is My Two Front Teeth).”

The Turner & Hooch actor also starred in the Die Hard franchise and paid tribute to Bruce Willis with a number on Dancing with the Stars.

“Working with Bruce Willis, it was an experience I’ll never forget. He was very kind to me in my first major role. I thanked him for that. I always will,” the actor shared on the competition show, per People. “This week, it’s a tribute to my friend Bruce Willis.”
