Ringo Starr of The Beatles is now officially 86 years old, but he has made it clear he doesn’t feel it one bit. Ahead of his birthday in 2025, the musician talked to the New York Times about aging.

“I look in the mirror and I’m 24. I never got older than 24,” Starr declared at the time. He admitted that it blew him away to consider his actual age.

He also revealed why he thinks he still feels so youthful. “I love what I’m doing.”

Even as he embraces the age of 86, the Beatles drummer is still thrilling fans with live performances.

On his website, Starr currently has a handful of September and October performances scheduled along the East Coast.

Starr also told the New York Times, “I live in the now.” He admitted he never planned any of the success he’s had, and “I love that life I’m allowed to live.”

In honor of Starr’s birthday, fans raved about the musician’s legacy.

“The best thing about Ringo is how well he handles it all — he knows where he sits in the pecking order and has just seemed to enjoy everything he can,” one fan shared on Reddit.

“I saw him in concert two years ago and he literally ran out onto the stage. He’s more fit than I am at 67,” raved another fan.

An additional Redditor commented, “He’s one of those rare musicians who makes aging feel like a continuation of the same story instead of a farewell and that’s why people still show up for him like it’s day one.”

Nearly 64 years ago, the Beatles released their debut single, titled “Love Me Do.” The quartet, which included Starr, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and John Lennon, became an international sensation.

Now, only Starr and McCartney are left, and they have maintained a close friendship all these years.

Although Starr could have stepped away from the stage long ago, fans who have checked out his recent concerts note it’s clear he’s still having a blast and delivering a great show. He may be turning 86, but the Beatles icon is obviously still very young at heart.
