Netflix recently released the tragic news that they would be pulling the show Friends from their catalogue in the new year, which led to countless terrifying riots across the globe. Well the latter didn’t exactly happen, but the outcry was enough for Netflix to quickly change its mind and pay a reported $100 million to keep the beloved show on their platform for another year. And thanks to that the cast of Friends are going to be getting a nice paycheck increase.

Since Netflix were scared off by rabid Friends fanatics, the main players of the show will see their earnings increased to about $22 million a year from the show alone, according to Daily Mail. That means that Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Courtney Cox, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, and Matt LeBlanc will have two percent of profits added to their syndication earnings. In other words, they will get an extra $1.4 million. Instead of Netflix, it’s probably best the cast thanks us for binge-watching every episode and completely abandoning sunlight.

Friends Cast

Having Friends on their catalogue has been costing Netflix quite a bit of green as they have already been paying WarnerMedia $30 million a year since 2015 to have the iconic show on their menu so we don’t get a mini heart attack if we don’t see it on there. And we will continue to see it there for at least another year or for however long we intimidate Netflix enough to keep it on there. So to recap, Jennifer and company will now be pocketing $22 million a year, which is quite the increase from the $22,500 an episode each friend was making in 1994.

And if you’re wondering if the cast will ever get together to film some new episodes, well Courtney had an answer a couple of months ago. “I just don’t see it happening,” Courtney said at the Tribeca Chanel Women’s Filmmaker Program Luncheon. “Even though I would do anything to be in a room with all of those people acting and having a great time. But I don’t see it happening.”

Maybe it will happen if any of the cast members are strapped for cash. It could happen.
