Gabrielle Union Documents Her Baby Daughter’s ‘Birth Journey’ In Emotional Home Video — Watch!

After having multiple miscarriages, Gabrielle Union got her prayers answered when she welcomed her first baby girl with her husband, Dwyane Wade, on Wednesday, Nov. 7 via surrogate. The couple went through a lot of obstacles before finally holding their baby, Kaavia James, in their arms and, in a new video that Gabrielle shared via Instagram, the new mom discussed exactly how “brutal” that journey was for them.

The clip begins with Gabrielle and Dwyane sitting on a couch and Gabrielle talking about how lucky she is to have Kaavia in her life. “We’re finally getting to this place where there’s this little person that will call me mom,” she gushed. Watch the adorable video below!

The clip then shows Gabrielle on The Dr. Oz Show revealing that she’d had “eight or nine” miscarriages. “It was actually not a problem getting pregnant. It was holding the baby,” she said. “And we discovered finally that what I have is called Adenomyosis. We just decided as a family that the best and safest route was a surrogate. For us, it’s our embryo so our surrogate has no genetic tie to our baby. We will be in the room as our child comes into the world.”

Then, Gabrielle can be seen breaking down in tears when she sees Kaavia for the first time in the delivery room. “We’re just so grateful and so thankful for the gift that they’ve given us,” she said. In the caption, Gabrielle described the video to be her and Dwyane’s “birth journey.” She wrote, “Every family is unique. How each family is created and comes together is special.”

“There were heartbreaks that nearly broke us and streams of tears that turned into raging rivers,” she said. “Thank you all for the love, support, and understanding and all the people who held us up when we lost hope.”
