Kelly Kruger‘s life has undergone numerous changes in 2026 on both personal and professional levels. She reaches a milestone as an actress on July 30th when she makes her on-screen General Hospital debut as legacy character Serena Baldwin. Off-screen, Kruger has been adjusting to life as a single mom after her divorce from The Bold and the Beautiful‘s Darin Brooks (Wyatt Spencer) earlier this year.
Kruger has been open about this emotional time in her life on social media and recently shared a TikTok video that details some of the realities that come with divorce and co-parenting small children.
Kelly Kruger Gets Real
Kruger and Brooks were married in 2016 after meeting on the set of the series Blue Mountain State six years earlier. In 2019, daughter Everleigh was born, followed by Gemma in 2022. Sadly, the couple announced their split in March, issuing a statement to TV Insider saying the following: “We’re committed to co-parenting our two children and remaining friends.”
Just before Mother’s Day, Kruger, whose soap resume includes Mackenzie Browning on The Young and the Restless and Eva on B&B, began posting videos about her divorce, including her plans to move out of her family home just a few days later.
“I moved into this house pregnant with one dog and my now ex-husband,” she said in an Instagram video. “I’m moving out with two kids, two dogs, and no husband. I want to say to anyone who is really in it right now, I think we surprise ourselves with how much we’re capable of, even though we’re scared and even though we think about how it’s going to be impossible to do, I know that somehow we just make it happen.”

After posting how she spent the Fourth of July without her children because they were with their dad, Kruger wore her heart on her sleeve in a TikTok video two weeks later, explaining how she feels broken whenever she has to drop off her kids with their father.
“I want to know for anyone going through this who has children what the tool is to make drop-off easier because this is not natural,” she said, clearly trying to hold back tears. “It’s not natural for a mom to be separated from her kids. After all this time, it’s not getting any easier. It’s heartbreaking to have to say goodbye to your kids for five days…and you see them again, and they’re bigger…I bury myself in work so I can make my time away from them as productive as can be.”
Despite the deep heartbreak Kruger feels as she navigates this new chapter in her life, she remains positive about her soap opera future, telling fans that she can’t wait for them to see her in Port Charles next week.
“I hope you love [Serena] as much as I do!!!!” she wrote on Instagram. “So excited to be back on your screens again!! I am the luckiest person in the world to work with these amazingly talented people on GH. Thanks for welcoming me with open arms.”
