‘General Hospital’s’ Maurice Benard Teases Big Things Ahead For Sonny, Jason, and Anna
Maurice Benard praises ‘General Hospital’ writers and co-stars Steve Burton, Finola Hughes, Rick Hearst, and Nazneen Contractor ahead of Jason and Anna’s highly anticipated returns.
It won’t be long now until General Hospital fans welcome Anna Devane and Jason Morgan back to the Port Charles scene. After multi-month hiatuses, Finola Hughes will make her first appearance as Anna on June 24th, while Burton will return as Jason for the show’s 16,000th episode on July 13th. And now, Maurice Benard can’t wait to tell you about some scenes he just shot with the actors, as well as a few other stars.
High Praise From Maurice Benard
On Father’s Day, Benard took to Instagram to post a video to heap praise on both the writers and his co-stars.
“I just want to get on here and say that I did some work with Steve Burton, Finola Hughes, Rick Hearst, Nazneen Contractor, and they’re all just fantastic,” Benard said. “Truly fantastic. But I want to say the writing was just exceptional. It truly was. It was exceptional. So, thankful for that kind of writing. I know writers don’t get the credit a lot, but I just want to say to the General Hospital writing team, keep rolling.”
Both Jason’s and Anna’s returns will have a profound effect on Sonny, as Jason has always been his right-hand man whenever he is not in prison or presumed dead. Jason is currently in a WSB prison after taking the fall when Rocco (Finn Carr) shot Cullum (Andrew Hawkes), but Soap Opera Digest has teased that Jason will want to make some changes in his life once he is released. Will one of those changes include the dynamics of his relationship with Sonny?
Although Anna is law enforcement, she is also one of Sonny’s closest friends and is expected to emerge from six months in a French mental hospital following months of being held hostage with revenge on the mind. Will she turn to Sonny for help?
Benard also said some of those “fantastic” scenes included Rick Hearst as Sonny’s brother, Ric, and Nazneen Contractor as Sonny’s current lady love, Justine. With the actor making sure to talk about the scenes on social media, we can’t wait to see what’s to come.
