George Harrison Memorial Tree Destroyed By Beetles!
Irony at its finest! A tree planted in memory of late Beatle George Harrison has died due to an infestation of…what else…tree beetles.
The pine, which was planted in 2004, is set to be replaced shortly, according to Los Angeles Councilman, Tom LaBonge.

Placed in LA's Griffith Park to commemorate his death in 2001, the tree had grown to be more than 10 feet tall. Councilman LaBonge revealed it isn't the first tree on the grounds to fall victim to the insect.
The memorial was originally planted to pay homage to George's love of gardening. He once famously transformed a rundown mansion's overgrown gardens into a gorgeous landscape, taking great care with every aspect of the renovation.
