Hoda Kotb Has Epic Response After Run-Ins With Kevin Costner Spark Romance Rumors: ‘Coincidence’

Is the universe trying to bring Hoda Kotb and Kevin Costner together? The Today alum addressed her recent run-ins with the Yellowstone star, which have fueled the ongoing rumors of a romance between them.

“Isn’t it sort of weird that he always ends up where I am?” Hoda, 60, told Us Weekly in an interview published on Monday, March 3. “I mean, I’m just living my life, and there he is. It just keeps happening.”

The former talk show host added coyly, “When is it not a coincidence anymore? That’s what I was wondering.”

Hoda’s interview came weeks after she posed for a photo with Kevin, 70, at the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans on February 9. The NBC personality shared the snap on her Instagram, and it caused quite a stir in the comments section.

“Kevin Costner could only be so lucky to date Hoda!! [heart emoji] them both!” one user wrote.

“What a great looking couple,” another fan added, while a third user commented, “Ooh you look gooooood with Kevin!! Just sayin.”

Hoda’s former Today cohosts also chimed in, with Savannah Guthrie writing, “New couple alert cc @jennabhager.”

Jenna Bush Hager added, “@savannahguthrie we have been waiting for this moment!”

Indeed, Hoda’s pals have been pushing for a relationship with Kevin to blossom ever since she and Jenna, 43, interviewed the Horizon actor on Today With Hoda & Jenna in June 2024. Fans were quick to notice the major chemistry between Hoda and Kevin, but the I’ve Loved You Since Forever author wasn’t made aware of the reactions until the following month.

“How do you feel about viewers ‘shipping’ you and Kevin Costner after he appeared on Today last month? And have the two of you connected since?” a fan asked Hoda on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in July 2024.

Hoda was surprised by the question, explaining that she had “never” heard the rumors before. However, she teased, “If the viewers want it …”

Kevin, who finalized his divorce from ex Christine Baumgartner in February 2024, also addressed the chatter from fans wanting him to date Hoda during an October 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight.

“Well look, I’m not on a national dating service. I appreciate the good will,” he said. “She’s been great to me. When I go back there … people treat me well. They treat me good. And she’s got a spark and we’ve never had coffee together.”

He concluded, “I know how to meet girls if I have to.”

And while Hoda had fun with the rumors about her potentially dating Kevin after their Super Bowl run-in, a source exclusively told Closer that she’s “not really dating anyone” three years after her split from ex Joel Schiffman.

“It made her smile because [Kevin’s] always been one of her top Hollywood crushes,” the source said on February 12. “In a perfect world, yes, she and Kevin fall madly in love and live happily ever after. Now it’s become this running gag, especially from her former colleagues at Today.”

The insider added, “She and Kevin like each other and have openly flirted during interviews, but that’s all there is.”
