Proud Dad Idris Elba Adorably Gushes About Daughter Isan’s Role As Miss Golden Globe 2019

How cute is this?! At the 76th annual Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 6, Idris Elba‘s 17-year-old daughter, Isan Elba, served as the 2019 Golden Globes Ambassador — a role previously known as Miss Golden Globe — and the actor couldn’t help but gush about his “baby girl” during the special night.

“The role of Golden Globe Ambassador is to assist the ceremony and to help shine a spotlight to the [Hollywood Foreign Press Association]’s philanthropic activities. I am thrilled and almost teary-eyed to introduce this year’s Ambassador, my baby girl, Isan Elba,” the 46-year-old star said on-stage while introducing Isan to the audience during the star-studded award show.

Before this year’s Golden Globes began, Idris walked the red carpet with Isan and his new fiancée, Sabrina Dhowre, and while speaking with E! host Ryan Seacrest, the Molly’s Game star sweetly gave his daughter some expert advice for her exciting new role. “I told her to keep her back straight; elegance is presence. Smile and nod politely, even if you can’t understand what anyone’s saying. If you feel like you’re going to pass out, don’t… I’m just like really proud. I can’t help but be a dad,” Idris revealed.

After the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced Isan as the latest Golden Globe Ambassador this past November, the teenager revealed she was “honored” to be given the special gig. “I’ve always been a lover TV and movies and I dream to be in the industry one day,” she said before thanking her father and mother, Kim Elba. “I’m really honored to have this position and be able to talk about things that, issues that I care about such as mental health, expression among African Americans, and my peers in particular. There’s a perceived stigma and I’ve seen my friends struggle with it.”

“We really need to empower younger people to ask for help. Thank you so much for this incredible honor and I will see everyone at the event of the year on Jan. 6. Thank you,” Isan added. Idris is also a father to a 4-year-old son, Winston Elba, with his ex-girlfriend Naiyana Garth.
