Inside Whoopi Goldberg’s Health Blitz: ‘View’ Cohost ‘Wants a Couple of More Decades in the Game’ (Exclusive)

Whoopi Goldberg has never much cared about the number on the scale, but even she was taken aback by the weight she gained while filming 2022’s Till.

“I just always felt like me, and then I saw me, and I thought, ‘Oh, that’s a lot of me,’” the View cohost, 70, recalled in a 2024 episode of the talk show.

Tipping the scales at nearly 300 pounds, Goldberg started taking Mounjaro, a once-weekly injection that she says helped her lose more than half her weight.

“Whoopi has gotten serious about longevity,” a source tells Closer, and for good reason.

“You have to remember the number of people really close to her who she lost prematurely,” says the source, including Patrick Swayze and Robin Williams. “It’s a very long list of folks she assumed she would share her 70s and 80s with who just didn’t make it.”

Goldberg is determined to stick around, though.

“Whoopi has always been careful about what she eats,” reveals the source. “But now she’s pushing those restrictions even further and really sticking to just the things that agree with her and keep her trademark live-wire energy up.”

The same goes for exercise.

“She’s never been a massive gym person, preferring walks in the park to weightlifting sessions,” says the source. “But she’s doing everything she can to stay active, especially since her day job is basically sitting in a chair for hours on end.”

The talk show host has also quit vaping, per a 2025 interview with the Daily Mail.

“Even after nearly a half century in show business, she still wants a couple of more decades in the game if she can manage it,” notes the source. “But that means making changes and that means being more careful than ever before about how she treats herself.”
