Making it work. After multiple reports claimed Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez ended their two-year engagement in March 2021, a rep for J. Lo confirmed to Closer Weekly that the couple are denying the split rumors.

“All the reports are inaccurate,” the couple told TMZ in a statement on March 13. “We are working through some things.” The outlet also noted that the pair’s relationship issues have “nothing to do with a third party,” hinting at Alex’s alleged fling with Southern Charm star Madison LeCroy — which LeCroy denied.

The “Jenny From the Block” singer and former baseball player just “hit a rough patch” in their relationship, People reported. Their relationship issues came months after being forced to postpone their wedding not once, but twice due to the coronavirus pandemic. In May 2019, two months after the former Yankee popped the question, Jennifer told Entertainment Tonight that they were in “no rush” to walk down the aisle.

“We really see this as something that’s gonna be forever, and we’re gonna just take our time and do it right. And do it not rushed,” she told the outlet. “I think we have a pretty busy year ahead of us, so you know, we are [taking it slow].”

The couple hoped to tie the knot in 2020, but the global COVID-19 pandemic derailed their planning process. The only way they were able to get things done was by having video calls with their team to come up with several different plans for their nuptials. “We had a meeting on Zoom with our core [group of people], kind of just going over what the next 12 months look like and we have three or four different variations of how that can look,” Jennifer shared with ET in April 2020.

One of their ideas for their wedding ceremony included renting out a “luxe mega-yacht” in Miami to hold the ceremony on, according to Life & Style Weekly. The couple, who started dating in 2017, weren’t sparing any expenses either, as they were expecting to spend an estimated “$3 million” on their nuptials because they want it to be exactly the way they pictured it.

“J. Lo tells anyone who’ll listen, ‘I’m finally with my soulmate’ and she’s going to reiterate that even more during their ceremony,” the source said. Unfortunately, due to social distancing and safety protocols, their plans were put on hold.

If they do end up walking down the aisle together, it will not only solidify the Second Act star and the hunky athlete’s relationship, but their children will officially become stepsiblings. Ever since they became a pair, Jen’s kids Max and Emme — whom she shares with Marc Anthony — and Alex’s kids, Natasha and Ella — whom he welcomed with Cynthia Scurtis — have gotten along beautifully.

“It’s always tricky when you merge families, but Jennifer and Alex did a great job from the start,” People reported. “The kids are amazing together. And they have wanted Jennifer and Alex to get married for a long time.”
