Kate Winslet Opens Up About Being Bullied for Her Looks as a Kid
Things haven't always been easy for Kate Winslet.
During an appearance on Running Wild with Bear Grylls, the 39-year-old actress revealed she used to be bullied for her looks.
"I was chubby, always had big feet, the wrong shoes, bad hair," she told adventurer Bear Grylls on Monday night's episode.

"When I grew up, I never heard positive reinforcement about body image from any female in my life," the actress continued. "I only heard negatives. That's very damaging because then you're programmed as a young woman to immediately scrutinize yourself and how you look."

The mom-of-three added she hopes to protect her children, especially her 14-year-old daughter, Mia, from being bullied by others for her appearance.

"I stand in front of the mirror and say to Mia, 'We are so lucky we have a shape. We're so lucky we're curvy. We're so lucky that we've got good bums.' And she'll say, 'Mummy, I know, thank God,'" Kate said. "It's paying off."
The Titanic star welcomed Mia in October 2000 with her first husband, Jim Threapleton, 42. She is also a mom to an 11-year-old son, Joe, from her second marriage to Sam Mendes, 49, and a 19-month-old son, Bear, from her current marriage to Ned Rocknroll, 36.
