‘Little House on the Prairie’s’ Latest Laura Ingalls Has Already Earned Her First Emmy Nomination
Alice Halsey, 11, earns a 2025 Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Emerging Talent for her role as Rachel Black on ‘Days of our Lives’ while starring in Netflix’s ‘Little House on the Prairie.’
Netflix’s new imagining of the old NBC family drama Little House on the Prairie only premiered on July 9, but Alice Halsey, the 11-year-old taking on the iconic role of Laura Ingalls, already has an Emmy nomination, but it’s not for playing Laura. Instead, it’s for her phenomenal work as troubled Rachel Black on Days of our Lives.
Alice Halsey’s a Daytime Emmy Nominee
Halsey, along with five other nominees from three different soaps, earned a nod in the Outstanding Emerging Talent category that was introduced in 2025 after the Outstanding Younger Performer category was axed. The young actress will be competing against Braedyn Bruner (Emma Scorpio, General Hospital), Al Calderon (Javi Hernandez, DAYS), Giovanni Mazza (Gio Palmieri, GH), Ambyr Michelle (Eva Thomas, Beyond the Gates), and Arielle Prepetit (Naomi Hawthorne, BTG), according to the Television Academy.
Halsey landed the role of Rachel in 2024 and aired until earlier this year. However, she left the show in 2025 to take on the role of Laura, the pioneer girl who grew up to become the famous author who penned the “Little House” series of semi-autobiographic children’s books. The newest iteration of the 1970s and 80s hit also stars Luke Bracey as Charles Ingalls, Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline Ingalls, and Skywalker Hughes as Mary Ingalls, per IMDb.
With the Daytime Emmys set to be presented on October 30 at the Hollywood Palladium, Halsey can’t wait for the big night and was wearing her Laura shoes when she got the big news.

“I was actually on the set of Little House on the Prairie when [my dad] surprised me with it,” Halsey said in an interview with Soap Opera News. “I was shocked and really excited.”
Halsey’s Rachel had quite a melodramatic, soapy year, as she accidentally shot her Uncle EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) and blocked the incident from her mind. Halsey said her Emmy reel features the scenes in which a hysterical Rachel begs her father, Brady (Eric Martsolf), not to leave her at Bayview mental hospital.
The young actress is also grateful for the nomination, saying, “I took the privilege of playing Rachel in this iconic show seriously because I know how much it means to the fans. If this nomination means the fans and my fellow actors appreciated my work, then I’m very grateful.”
