The Daytime Emmy nominations are finally out, with this year’s ceremony set for the day before Halloween on October 30, 2026, at the Hollywood Palladium. One category that has General Hospital fans particularly up in arms is Outstanding Lead Actress, in which GH was shut out. Fans feel that the absence of two specific actresses is a glaring omission.
Daytime Emmy Actress Surprises
GH fans were certain that Katelyn MacMullen and Jane Elliot would receive nominations after a spectacular year of work in 2025. MacMullen turned prim and proper schoolteacher-turned-nurse Willow Tait from the woman everyone in Port Charles admired into one everyone reviled and pitied.
As Willow’s life fell apart of her own doing, MacMullen blew everyone away. Courtroom and wedding meltdowns were the highlight of MacMullen’s year, with fans wondering how she was left off the nominee list.
“Katelyn MacMullen not being nominated for Lead or Supporting Actress is a … joke!” one fan said on X. “Willow drove story all year, and Katelyn MacMullen was phenomenal.”
“I think whether you’re a fan of Willow or not, everyone can agree that Katey MacMullen got ROBBED of a nomination,” another fan said.

GH fans are also miffed that soap veteran Jane Elliot, who has been bringing Tracy Quartermaine to life off and on since 1978, was left off the nominee list after a year in which Tracy became the Quartermaine matriarch while mourning the death of her beloved sister-in-law (and frenemy), Monica. Elliot played those scenes while also grieving Leslie Charleson, her dear friend who played Monica and passed in 2025.
“It was very, very difficult to play her alive when she had already passed in real life,” Elliot said in an interview with Variety when the scenes first aired. “It extended the mourning because we had to keep her alive when she wasn’t. I had to mourn her death twice.”
However, Elliot, who was inducted into the Television Academy’s Gold Circle last year, does not typically submit her name for consideration, which would be a reason she didn’t receive a nomination.
Although many fans understood that not making the cut was likely Elliot’s choice, they still celebrated her heartbreaking performance.
“I will never stop singing the praises of their Monica tribute,” one X user wrote. “Jane Elliot delivered a truly iconic performance that will be watched for years to come, in the pantheon of classic #GH shows.”
