Mark Consuelos Is Still ‘Crazy About’ Wife Kelly Ripa After 22 Years of Marriage

They’re one of Hollywood’s longest-lasting couples and the reason we, frankly, still believe in true love. And after a solid 22 years of marriage, Mark Consuelos sweetly admitted in a new interview that his wife, Kelly Ripa, still totally gives him butterflies.

“I’m crazy about her,” the 47-year-old hunk recently gushed to Us Weekly. He even dished what he thinks is the key to their successful relationship. “She’s an extremely patient and tolerant woman,” Mark said of Kelly, 48. “And I think that’s the true secret to our marriage.”

The actor confessed things aren’t always easy though, especially with their busy work schedules. But the Riverdale star and the Live! With Kelly and Ryan cohost have been together long enough to know what works for them. “Because she has to go to work early, I get up with her, I make her a cup of coffee and we talk,” Mark revealed.

Even when they’re apart while traveling for work, Mark and Kelly always take time out of their busy schedules to catch up. “I like to hear from her, she likes to hear from me,” the All My Children alum added.

While they’ve clearly mastered marriage — the couple will be celebrating 23 years of wedded bliss in May! — Mark admitted that every day is still a lesson when it comes to parenting their three kids, Michael Consuelos, 21, Lola Consuelos, 17, and Joaquin Consuelos, 15. “I’m learning on the job,” Mark confessed, adding that his teenagers don’t live by any specific rules. “They’re more or less unsaid or unwritten.”

It seems like one of those unwritten rules is to follow in their famous parents’ footsteps. At least that’s the case for Michael, who recently made his TV debut when he landed a cameo role playing the younger version of his dad’s character in Riverdale. However, the couple’s oldest son wasn’t the only Consuelos family member to land an acting gig on the popular show’s set.

Funnily enough, Kelly was cast to play Mark’s character’s mistress in the series. “It was awesome,” he recently gushed to Good Housekeeping about costarring with Kelly on Riverdale. “It was such a treat. That’s how I started my career, working with my wife. We haven’t done it in such a long time, acting-wise. It was really good to have her on the show. She knows a lot of the cast. They met over the summer when she was visiting Vancouver. It was just a lot of fun.”
