Mark Wahlberg’s New Las Vegas Mexican Restaurant Catches Fire Due to ‘Defective Fire Pit’

A scary fire broke out at Mark Wahlberg’s new restaurant, Flecha Cantina, in Las Vegas, on Tuesday, November 6.

The raging blaze was captured in videos posted on social media. A fire alarm could be heard blaring in the background of one video as a person drove by the location. In another video, a man could be seen running past the front of the restaurant with a fire extinguisher in his hand.

In a statement to People, a spokesperson for Flecha Cantina said that the fire started due to “a defective fire pit caught fire on the bottom of it.”

“The fire crew came and put it out right away,” the spokesperson said. “No damage at all in the interior restaurant. The only damage was the fire pit and the chair next to it. Thankfully no one was injured.”

In another video posted by Las Vegas Locally on X, a fire truck could be seen parked outside of the 10,400-square-foot restaurant as pedestrians stood watching efforts to stop the blaze.

According to the People, firefighters were eventually able shut off the propane tanks that were fueling the fire. After that, the place was able to return to business as usual.

“The fire sprinkler company came back out and recharged the system and the restaurant was back open at 7p.m.” the spokesperson said.

After news of the fire broke, the restaurant’s Instagram page encouraged patrons to stop by and visit.

“I heard there was a small fire yesterday on the patio? Hope everyone is ok. See you all soon! Love your food.. love the atmosphere,” one person commented on the post.

The comment prompted a response from The Townsquare Las Vegas account.

“There was a minor fire on the Flecha Cantina patio last night. There were no injuries and TSLV thanks LVFD for their prompt response. Flecha is open normal business hours,” the response said.

The restaurant’s page also replied to the comment, writing, “no injuries and open for business!”

Randy Sharpe, CEO of Wahlburgers, also spoke out in a statement after the restaurant caught fire.

“The whole front of the building has reflective windows, so it made it look pretty spectacular, but not in a good way,” he told Las Vegas Review-Journal on Thursday. “The fire department came out quickly; they suppressed it. It was out in 20 minutes. It was very minor. Fortunately, it wasn’t worse.”

Mark moved to Las Vegas from California with his family in 2022. He shared an update on how his wife, Rhea Durham, and their kids, Ella, Michael, Brendan and Grace, were adjusting to the move.

“It’s a place where my kids can thrive and do their thing and pursue their interests,” he said. “To be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams — whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer — this made a lot more sense for us.”
