Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp are ‘Truly Happy’ and ‘Solid’ Following Their Engagement (Exclusive)

Nearly three months after they announced their engagement following eight years of dating, Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp are “truly happy” together, a source close to the couple exclusively revealed to Closer Weekly. Though Meg, 57, and John, 67, are now busy planning their wedding and house-hunting in both Connecticut and New York, the source assured the duo are “solid” in their relationship.

“At this age, they want no drama, they want easy. So they both are conscious about that. John is laid-back, although he admittedly can act childish at times and can be moody,” the source said. “Meg is more stressed but she does yoga every day and works on being more ‘Zen,’ as she says. So since their relationship has been on and off since 2011, now they are solid and they are grateful and don’t want to do anything to screw it up.”

As for their wedding plans, the insider revealed Meg and John will likely hold a “spur of the moment” ceremony. “They are both hippies at heart, he more than she, but she has that side to her. She loves that, at 57, John, at 67, brings out … her ‘inner hippie.’ With that said, they want to do it on the spur of the moment for now. They both have money, so they can pull it together quickly. They haven’t decided yet what they are going to do,” the source shared. 

And if you’re wondering what Meg’s wedding dress might look like, the insider dished the You’ve Got Mail star is looking “to get something funky” or may even shop her own closet. “If anything, she’ll have her daughter pick it out with her,” the source said, referring to Meg’s 15-year-old daughter, Daisy True Ryan. “Meg’s style is all over the place, she constantly surprises. She loves her black boots, she may wear them under her dress.”
