Melissa McCarthy Reveals She’s a Crazy Mom at Her Daughter’s Basketball Games

On most days, she’s the life of the party — but at her daughter’s basketball games, Melissa McCarthy is the crazy cheerleader mom! During a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the 48-year-old hysterically revealed how intense she gets while watching her girls on the court.

“They’re both really into basketball. Which I love because I always loved sports,” the Can You Ever Forgive Me? star said of her daughters, Vivian, 11, and Georgette, 8. “I scream and I yell like I’ve lost my mind. Like I’m — I’ve become exactly the person I always feared I would meet. Just a constant litany of like, ‘Get it. Get it from her! Take it from her! Take it! Georgie, you take it from her!'”

Though it sounds like Melissa’s girls — whom she shares with husband Ben Falcone — are pretty good basketball players today, it wasn’t that way when her youngest daughter, Georgie, first learned the sport. “When Georgie started, they explained guarding and she was like, ‘Got it. Guard.’ And so we were always like, ‘Hands up, Falcone!’ Like, that’s what we’d call her,” the proud mom told host Ellen DeGeneres.

Melissa continued to explain that despite her little girl not fully understanding the concept of being a guard right off the bat, she still cheered Georgie on. “She guarded their team, her own team. So it was like her own girls trying to come down the lane, and she’s like, ‘No, no, no, no,’ and she’s like in [their] face. And I was like, ‘Georgie, it’s your own team!'”

Since then, the youngster has a new position on her basketball team. “So she stopped that and now she’s point guard and she made her first basket two weeks ago,” Melissa said, adding that the special moment totally pulled at her heartstrings. “We all went crazy, my dad burst out crying. I burst out crying. And there’s a woman behind us, and she’s like, ‘I don’t even know why I’m crying, I don’t even know why I’m crying!'”

This isn’t the first time that Melissa has gushed about her two daughters. “They’re really smart and funny, weird,” the brunette beauty told Us Weekly earlier this month. “I think they’re better [than me]. They’re further along in their young lives than I was. I feel like I had to push almost 30 to get their kind of confidence, so I love seeing that.” So sweet!
