A-lister Melissa McCarthy first debuted her drastic weight loss back in January 2015 — and she has been showing off her impressive new look ever since! Since 2012, the actress has dropped an impressive 75 pounds thanks to a healthier diet and exercise sessions with a trainer, which has made her even more of a go-getter these days. “But she’s not obsessed with losing more,” an insider tells Closer of the star, who launched her Seven7 line of clothes for women sizes 4 though 28 in 2015. “She’s happy in her own skin right now.”
Self-acceptance is an important lesson Melissa wants to impart to her kids, Vivian, 10, and Georgette, 8. “I’ve always said, ‘You don’t have to be perfect to be exceptional,'” says Melissa. “My daughters have a very good sense of self, responsibility, and kindness. That’s my job, and I take it very seriously.”
And if they don’t succeed at something, there’s a lesson in that, too. “I fail 54 times a day, but I admit when I fail,” says Melissa, who’s learned to find happiness and success on her own terms. “There’s always going to be people ho don’t like something you’re doing,” she says, “but as you get older you can step into that and not worry about it.”
But today, at age 47, Melissa identifies with herself more than she ever has before. “Being in my 40s is such a great relief. I know myself better than I ever have,” insists the actress, who’s riding a wave of success with the back-to-school comedy Life of the Party, co-producing duties with husband Ben Falcone, 44, for the second season of their TV comedy, Nobodies, and a more serious role in Can You Ever Forgive Me?, due in October. “I don’t like to get bored,” adds the blissfully busy star. “All this fun stuff could be over in a flash, so I’m constantly burning it as fast as I can. I have freaky energy!”
