Michael Douglas and Glenn Close have a rock-solid friendship that dates back to their famous 1987 performance in Fatal Attraction, and a source exclusively tells Closer that they still make time to catch up with each other despite their busy schedules.
“Getting to know Glenn Close and working with her on Fatal Attractioncontinues to be a true high point for Michael, and he still talks about that movie and that experience like it happened yesterday, not decades ago,” the source says.
While the blockbuster remains one of Douglas’ most memorable films, the source says the friendship he built with Close, 79, has proven to be just as meaningful.
“He just admires the hell out of Glenn,” the source continues. “She’s one of the few stars of Michael’s generation who is still putting herself out there and doing provocative, interesting work year in and year out.”

According to the source, Douglas, 80, has continued to support the Dangerous Liaisons star even while he has taken a step back from the entertainment industry.
“Even as Michael slows things down with his own career, he still finds the time and energy to cheer Glenn on,” the source says. “That’s just how strong the bond is between them.”
Close will receive her Honorary Oscar later this year, and according to the source, the Romancing the Stone actor plans to be among those celebrating her big achievement.
“Michael will absolutely be front and center this fall when Glenn finally gets her Honorary Oscar, and it goes without saying that he considers this honor way overdue,” the source concludes. “Even as Hollywood goes through massive, unpredictable changes, Michael and Glenn have shown that they have each other’s backs.”
