‘The Conners’ Star Michael Fishman Divorcing Wife After 19 Years Of Marriage (Report)

Sounds like actor Michael Fishman and his wife, Jennifer Briner, have split. According to TMZ, Michael, 37, and Jennifer recently filed for divorce after 19 years of marriage. The pair, who have two children, married in 1999 when Michael was 18 years old. The actor — most known for playing D.J. Conner on Roseanne and its spin-off, The Conners — told the outlet the separation from his wife is amicable and added the couple actually ended their marriage in June 2017 but their divorce was delayed when production on Roseanne ended following star Roseanne Barr‘s abrupt firing. 

Michael shot to stardom as a child when the ABC show Roseanne became a massive hit and aired from 1988 to 1997. The sitcom returned with a bang in 2018, once again reeling in huge ratings. But all of that came to a halt when Roseanne, 66, published racist tweets about former senior advisor to President Barack Obama, Valerie Jarrett.

After the show’s sudden cancellation, Michael took to Twitter to write, “Today is one of the hardest in my life. I feel devastated, not for the end of the Roseanne show, but for all those who poured their hearts and souls into our jobs, and the audience that welcomed us into their homes.” He continued, “Our cast, crew, writers, and production staff strived for inclusiveness, with numerous storylines designed to reflect inclusiveness. The words of one person do not exemplify the thinking of all involved. I condemn these statements vehemently. They are reprehensible and intolerable, contradicting my beliefs and outlook on life and society… We must stand up against; bias, hatred, bigotry, and ignorance to make society a better place for all.”

News of Michael’s divorce comes one day after Forest Whitaker and his wife Keisha Nash also called it quits after 22 years of marriage.
