Life after the White House is sweet for Barack Obama and Michelle Obama! The couple spent eight years in Washington, DC and, in a new interview with People, Michelle revealed that being out of the Oval Office has actually rekindled her romance with her loving husband and the father of their two daughters.

“We are finding each other again,” the former First Lady gushed while promoting her new book, Becoming. And what exactly have Michelle and Barack been doing with all of their alone time, you might ask? Well, the 54-year-old said that they just love each other endlessly. “We have dinners alone and chunks of time where it’s just us — what we were when we started this thing: no kids, no publicity, no nothing. Just us and our dreams.”

Barack and Michelle have definitely been loving all the time that they get to spend together. They recently went on a relaxing vacation to Palm Springs, CA and left their two daughters, Malia, 20, and Sasha, 17, behind. Michelle said, it was “the first time in a long time it was just the two of us,” and she loved it!

“It was good,” she reminisced and joked that Barack had plenty of time to work on his new book. “We swam, we sat, and he wrote because he’s still writing his book. So he’s a little resentful.”

Michelle and Barack are keeping their marriage strong in the best way possible. Though spending time alone together has helped to strengthen their bond, Michelle also revealed that marriage counseling has helped to keep them together for more than 25 years.

“Marriage counseling, for us, was one of those ways we learned to talk out our differences,” she previously revealed to Good Morning America‘s Robin Roberts. “What I learned about myself was, my happiness was up to me, and I started working out more, I started asking for help, not just from him but from other people. I stopped feeling guilty.”

Michelle and Barack recently celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary on Oct. 3 and it seems they plan to spend many more years together, too!
