The 50-year-old actress officially joined the photo-sharing site on Monday, Jan. 8 following her epic Golden Globes win for Best Actress in a Movie or Limited Series on Sunday, Jan. 7. For her first post, Nicole shared a cute photo of herself proudly holding up her award inside The Beverly Hilton hotel with the caption, “About last night… shut the place down!!! I am so proud of my Big Little Lies family and to have stood with my sisters on such a special night. #TimesUp.”
At the 2018 Golden Globes, stars donned black in solidarity against sexual harassment and assault and many celebs wore a pin bearing the words “Time’s Up” to raise awareness for the new sexual harassment prevention initiative established on Jan. 1 by 300 actresses, female executives, agents, producers, writers, and directors. The Time’s Up founders include Eva Longoria, Emma Stone, Reese Witherspoon — Nicole’s best friend! — Kerry Washington and Shonda Rhimes.

After Nicole joined Instagram, her fans — she already has 331,000 followers! — began commenting on her first post to congratulate her on her big Golden Globes win. “You deserved it, @NicoleKidman! Congrats!” one person wrote with another adding, “Fantastic first Insta photo! Congratulations! What a special night for so many!” The mom-of-two won for playing Celeste Wright on Big Little Lies which aired on HBO from Feb. 19 to April 2, 2017. The series also starred Reese, Laura Dern, Alexander Skarsgård, Zoë Kravitz, and Shailene Woodley. Production on the second season of Big Little Lies is reportedly beginning this spring — we can’t wait for more episodes!
Part of the Big Little Lies story chronicled Nicole’s character Celeste being physically abused by her husband, Perry, who was played by Alexander. In a previous interview, Nicole opened up about filming Celeste’s domestic abuse scenes. “I felt very exposed and vulnerable and deeply humiliated at times.
[After one scene] I remember lying on the floor in the bathroom… and I just wouldn’t get up in-between takes,” she recalled. “I was just lying there, sort of broken and crying, and I remember at one point [director Jean-Marc Vallée] coming over and just sort of placing a towel over me because I was just lying there in half-torn underwear and just basically on the ground with nothing on and I was just, like [gasps].”
