Peacock Makes a Major Announcement About the Future of ‘The Traitors’

Fresh off his third Emmy win in a row for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program, Alan Cumming isn’t going anywhere. Based on Peacock’s latest announcement, the actor and the reality show are returning in 2027 — and then again for three more years.

The Traitors won an impressive seven Primetime Emmys in 2026, taking home awards for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program, Outstanding Production Design for a Variety or Reality Series, Outstanding Reality Competition Program, Outstanding Cinematography for a Reality Program, Outstanding Costumes for Variety Nonfiction or Reality Programming, Outstanding Picture Editing for a Structured Reality or Competition Program, and Outstanding Directing for a Reality Program.

Given the accolades, it’s no surprise that Peacock decided to renew the show for not one, not two, but three seasons (in addition to the upcoming 2027 season).

Per Peacock, the most recent season was The Traitors biggest yet. The series’ viewership jumped by over 72% compared to the previous season and ranked as the second most-streamed reality show of 2026, with a total of 8.1 billion minutes viewed since the January 8, 2026 premiere.

Fans who just can’t wait until 2027 for the next season to debut can catch The Traitors: New Blood starting Thursday, September 17 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on NBC (streaming the next day on Peacock). The Traitors: New Blood, a spinoff starring and produced by Alan Cumming, features a cast of 22 new non-celebrity competitors vying for their share of a $250,000 prize fund. And of course, they’re in for all the twists and turns you would expect from this top-rated reality show.
