Pierce Brosnan ‘Spoiling’ Keely Shaye Smith for 25th Anniversary: He’s ‘Incredibly Romantic’

Pierce Brosnan and Keely Shaye Smith are just a few weeks away from celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary — and a source says the erstwhile James Bond has been preparing a ton of surprises that are sure to sweep his beloved wife right off her feet!

“Pierce is incredibly romantic,” Closer‘s source reveals. “He always gives her beautiful cards that he’s hand-painted himself and he’s fantastic at picking out gifts. She loves vintage jewelry, so no doubt he will be spoiling her with something one-of-a-kind.”

Brosnan, 73 and Smith, 62, “usually celebrate all their special milestones at their place in Kauai,” the source says of the couple’s tropical Hawaiian hideaway. “They’ve talked about having some sort of vow renewal ceremony to celebrate but if they do go ahead with that plan, it will be very low-key, probably something at home where they can be barefoot in the sand.”

The pair met in 1994 at a party in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and went on to welcome two children, sons Dylan, 29, and Paris, 25, before tying the knot on August 4, 2001 at Ireland’s Ashford Castle.

Brosnan also shares son Sean, 42, with his late first wife Cassandra Harris, who died from ovarian cancer in 1991, and adopted her children, son Christopher, 53, and daughter Charlotte, who tragically lost her own battle with the disease at age 41 in 2013.

“People always ask what the secret is to Pierce and Keely’s marriage and they always say their success comes down to the fact that they genuinely like each other,” shares the source. “They give each other the space and respect to be exactly who they are, without judgment.”

Over the past two decades, “they’ve both grown and changed a lot, but they’ve managed to grow together, rather than apart,” the source notes. “And that’s really a case of them being curious enough to go deep and really understand one another, rather than just childishly expecting the other person to stay the same.”
