General Hospital’s Maxie is no longer in limbo. After months of the character barely being mentioned, viewers learned last week that she was on vacation in the Grand Canyon. Now, Maxie’s vacation is going to become a permanent one, as Kirsten Storms is being written off the soap and Maxie and her family make a big move.

Maxie and Spinelli Leave Port Charles Behind

Fans were stunned when Cody (Josh Kelly) casually mentioned to Molly (Kristen Vaganos) that Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) had been offered a job in Australia, so Maxie and Spinelli were going to move their brood down under. As Maxie has not been seen since winter, there were no long, tearful goodbyes. We just knew that Maxie and Spinelli, as well as Georgie, James, and Bailey Lu would no longer live in Port Charles.

Maxie’s move was necessitated by Storms’ move to Tennessee and her decision to leave Hollywood behind. She recently took to Instagram to explain why living in Tennessee at this time is the right decision for her. She also touched on her health issues, including a brain aneurysm that was found last year. Storms also talked about her life as a child star and how she never felt at home in Los Angeles.

Storms first took a leave of absence from the soap last year when she first made her move, so GH wrote Maxie into a coma. When Storms returned to the set early this year, Maxie emerged from her coma. However, Storms only returned briefly, and Maxie was only seen a handful of times. During Maxie’s short stint in Port Charles, she learned her late husband, Nathan (Ryan Paevey), was still alive. However, he was recently found to be an imposter.

As it stands now, Maxie has sold her shares in Deception Cosmetics to Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) and is on her way to start a new life. However, the door has been left open for her return, either as a recast or if Storms decides that she wants to return to Hollywood life.
