‘The Young and the Restless’ Fans Can’t Get Enough of Sally’s Gorgeous Wedding Look
Sally and Billy’s ‘Great Gatsby’ wedding on ‘The Young and the Restless’ stuns fans with an ethereal bride entrance, vintage gowns, and old school soap magic.
The long-anticipated wedding of The Young and the Restless‘ Sally (Courtney Hope) and Billy (Jason Thompson) has arrived, with the bride appearing at the final moment of Friday’s episode, ready to walk down the aisle to her groom.
In September, showrunner Sally McDonald told TV Insider that “Billy and Sally’s nuptials will be the wedding of the year, and you should expect the unexpected.”
So far, the show has not disappointed, as the Great Gatsby-themed wedding got off to a roaring start. The guests arrived in their roaring 20s best, but when the curtain parted to reveal a backlit Sally in her stunning white gown, the audience gasped right along with the characters in attendance at the wedding.
“I thought her entrance was ethereal. She looked magical,” one fan wrote on X.
“Stunning. Kudos to the wardrobe department, hair and makeup too. Fantastic wedding,” another fan tweeted.
“The most beautiful bride you ever did see,” another fan gushed.
“The production for this wedding has been absolutely stellar,” another viewer raved. “It really felt like an old school Y&R wedding. The wardrobe, lighting, directing, and sets have been amazing.”
Others were just thrilled for the character of Sally, with one fan writing, “I’m happy the show is giving Sally a grand wedding. This is her first ever one since she debuted on Bold almost a decade ago & after all the unnecessary anguish she’s had thrown her way from cheating and a baby loss, she really does deserve it.”
In the story, Sally designed her own wedding gown, as she is a fashion designer after all. In real life, Y&R’s costume designer, Mandi Line, was tasked with the job of creating Sally’s gown, as well as the other 1920s fashion the guests wore.
“First and foremost, Sally Spectra had to design her dress from scratch, which, of course, meant I had to!” Line said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “We both agreed that it needed to be unique: a modern silhouette in a vintage fabric, with a soft, feminine edge, just like Sally Spectra.”
