A Tina Turner musical is set to hit Broadway in the fall of 2019! The new show, called Tina: The Musical, will tell the story of the “What’s Love Got To Do With It” singer’s life and will be debuting in NYC next year after already premiering in London’s West End last spring.

In a previous interview, Tina said she was “delighted” that her life story was coming to the stage. “We have been working on the musical for over a year now and today I am delighted to be able to share our news as we begin the next chapter of our journey. It has been wonderful to collaborate with [writer Katori Hall] and [director Phyllida Lloyd] and to have my story nurtured by such an amazing creative team is thrilling,” the 78-year-old said in 2016.

Details on the Big Apple show’s cast and performance dates have not yet been announced but the jukebox musical is sure to be just as amazing as other similar shows like Jersey Boys, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, and Summer: The Donna Summer Musical.

Tina’s musical will most likely cover her rise to fame as one of the most notable singers of the ’70s and might include info on her abusive marriage to her first husband, Ike Turner. “Ike called the shots,” one of Tina’s former backup singers, Robbie Montgomery — who referred to her relationship with Tina as “close as sisters” — once exclusively told Closer Weekly. It wasn’t until Tina finally filed for divorce from Ike in 1976 that she finally felt free. “After all the chaos, she’s made the life she’s always dreamed of,” a source previously told Closer.

The show could also document the recent death of her eldest son. “My saddest moment as a mother. On Thursday, July 19, 2018, I said my final goodbye to my son, Craig Raymond Turner, when I gathered with family and friends to scatter his ashes off the coast of California,” Tina wrote via Instagram on Friday, July, 27. “He was fifty-nine when he died so tragically, but he will always be my baby.”
