General Hospital’s Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) is determined to rescue his hitman father from an international prison after Jason (Steve Burton) took the fall for shooting WSB director Cullum (Andrew Hawkes). Too bad Danny is in the dark about a lot of things, including who really pulled the trigger that landed Cullum in the hospital for months. He also doesn’t know that Cullum is beginning to suspect who the real culprit was — and is very, very wrong.

Will Cullum Target the Wrong Teen?

Cullum was just about to whack Jason over the head with a metal cane and kill him when Rocco Falconeri (Finn Carr) made a split-second decision to pick up Cullum’s gun off the dock on Pier 55 and shoot Cullum in the back. When Jason realized what had happened, he quickly took the fall for trying to kill the crooked agent, leading to his immediate arrest.

Cullum knows Jason couldn’t have shot him in the back because he was looking at him in the face when he felt the bullet. That means his shooter is still out there, so Cullum has been doing all he can to figure out who Jason would take the fall for. To make such a sacrifice, Cullum knows it has to be someone with whom Jason was close.

When he recently mentioned this to Carly (Laura Wright), his eyes fell on a photo on her mantle of Jason and Danny at a softball game last summer. Cullum got an all-knowing look in his eye, thinking that Jason was trying to save his son. It didn’t occur to him that Jason might also have wanted to save his son’s best friend and honorary brother.

Fans quickly knew that Danny was in trouble and needed to sleep with one eye open at all times because Cullum might go gunning for him.

“Cullum tells Carly he knows Jason didn’t shoot him. He figures Jason is protecting someone. Then he turns around and sees this picture. Will Cullum go after Danny?” one fan asked on X.

Another predicted that if Cullum’s suspicions could prompt some action from Rocco, saying, “If Cullum hurts or kidnaps Danny, Rocco will be screaming from the rooftops, ‘It was ME!!!!!!'”

At least the plot twist is as soapy as it gets. As one GH viewer put it: “CULLUM: I know Jason didn’t shoot me. Jason must be protecting someone. Sees a picture of Jason with his arm around Danny. ME: Oh s***!!! This is deliciously messy!”

General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC and streams each weeknight on Hulu.
