After William H. Macy‘s wife, Felicity Huffman, was reportedly arrested at gunpoint for allegedly being involved in a college admissions scandal, interview comments her husband made about their children in old interviews have resurfaced. In a 2004 discussion he had with Entertainment Tonight, the 69-year-old actor opened up about possibly using “nepotism” to help his daughters’ careers.

“One can help your children in this business, and the nepotism works, and I have no problems with it,” the Shameless star admitted. “If I can give them a leg up, I absolutely would. It’s a great way to make a living. It really is.”

Fans were also interested in a February interview that William did with Men’s Journal because the father-of-two revealed the best advice he’s ever gotten was to “never lie.” He said, “It’s the cheapest way to go. Lies cost you a lot, and they’re never worth what they cost.”

William and Felicity, 56, share two daughters, Sofia, 18, and Georgia, 17. And on Tuesday, March 12, multiple news outlets began reporting that Felicity and Fuller House star Lori Loughlin were among about 50 wealthy people who tried to cheat the college entrance exam system. According to court documents obtained by ABC News, Felicity apparently “made a purported charitable contribution of $15,000 … to participate in the college entrance exam cheating scheme on behalf of her eldest daughter.”

After hearing the shocking news, Rita Wilson appeared on Busy Tonight to share her thoughts about the Desperate Housewives star’s alleged scandal. “It is so unethical and disturbing because there are kids who work really hard that are on financial aid who are desperate for a spot in any college,” she said. “It is also insulting to the colleges that are not considered elite as if there’s somehow different or you’re getting a different education. It doesn’t matter, it’s all about hard work.”
