New Dad Andy Cohen Reveals He Will Be ‘Forever Indebted’ to His ‘Incredible Surrogate’ for Baby Benjamin
Just a few days ago on Monday, February 5, Andy Cohen welcomed a baby boy named Benjamin Allen Cohen via surrogate as a single dad. And now, in a candid new interview, the 50-year-old TV host revealed how truly grateful he is to have worked with such an “incredible surrogate” to welcome his son into the world.
“I worked with an incredible surrogate. She was in California. Surrogacy is illegal in so many states, including New York. I don’t understand why. It’s a voluntary process, obviously,” the Watch What Happens Live host told People. “My surrogate just viewed it as, she was giving me the ultimate gift. She gave me life. So I’ll be forever indebted to her.” Andy added that he felt “very lucky” the embryo that turned into his son was successful and there were no complications at all.

As for the day baby Benjamin arrived, Andy said he was quite surprised by what he saw. “I was in the delivery room. I had been hoping that he would have a full head of hair, and he really over-delivered,” he joked. “That was the first thing you see, the head of hair coming out. And I was amazed.”
He also recalled that he was able to “cut the umbilical cord,” and added, “He was so alert for the first two hours. His eyes were wide open. He didn’t cry; he was just calm. I kind of have no words for it.”

Andy additionally opened up about the day he first learned he was finally going to be a dad. “I was shooting the Southern Charm reunion and we were on a lunch break, and my surrogate texted me a video of the first sonogram. I was in my dressing room in tears. That was the moment for me where I was like, whoa,” he recalled.
