Legendary performer Barry Manilow just canceled more shows of his current Las Vegas residency, following a battle with stage 1 lung cancer.
A message to fans appeared on the singer’s Instagram page on Friday, August 21, reading, “We’re very sorry but we have to cancel tonight’s and tomorrow’s performances. Due to technical and vocal problems, we’re unable to put on our show.” Manilow was scheduled to perform at the International Theater at Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino in Nevada.
Manilow first announced his lung cancer diagnosis in December of 2025, sharing the shocking news in a statement on social media: “As many of you know, I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks. Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK. The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed.”
The ‘Copacabana’ star shared with Good Morning America what it was like to lose his voice after a 50-year career performing and recording music: “That is really upsetting, because I don’t want to stop.”

He continued, “I looked at my band, and they were all looking at the floor. That was the first hint something was not right. I was taking my voice for granted. I didn’t take it seriously. Now I do, because it doesn’t seem to be there the way it always was.”
During the interview, which was recorded several months ago in June, Manilow also spoke openly about his recovery, saying, ” Yeah, I’m doing good. It took longer than I thought it was going to take to get past this lung cancer.”
While doctors decided he didn’t need chemo or radiation, the singer did end up in the ICU for seven days with pneumonia. He detailed the scary experiences, crediting the doctors and nurses with his recovery: “It was terrifying. There was a couple of moments there when I thought, this could be goodbye. But these people at this hospital, they were just angels.”
In addition to the current cancellation, Manilow was forced to postpone an August 4th show in Lexington and cut a recent Las Vegas show short.
