Meet the ‘Boston Blue’ Cast: Get to Know the Stars of the ‘Blue Bloods’ Offshoot Series
Boston Blue is set to air on CBS in fall 2025, and some famous faces have already been added to the cast. The Blue Bloods offshoot series is sure to be just as drama-filled and nail-biting as the original program, with talented actors and actresses joining the franchise in the new era. Closer reveals all of the Boston Blue cast members who have been announced so far.
Donnie Wahlberg
Donnie Wahlberg will be stepping back into the role of Danny Reagan, the son of New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan. In this new adventure, Danny will become a member of Boston PD.
“Now it’s just Danny going to this new world, but I can’t say a lot about it, but I can say, you know, if he’s a Reagan, it’ll never be just Danny,” Donnie said during a May 2025 interview with Fox News Digital. “They’ll always be a Reagan a phone call away, and, you know, the traditions that the Reagans have, Danny wouldn’t abandon those traditions.”
While it has not yet been revealed why exactly Danny decides to move away from New York City, Donnie is thrilled to start filming the new show in his hometown.
“You have to remember your roots from Boston because no one in Boston will ever let you forget,” the New Kids on the Block member said during an interview on Morning MAGIC with Sue and Kendra in April 2025. “First of all I’m a proud Bostonian, I love the city. I love coming back every chance I get and I will love filming there.”
Sonequa Martin-Green
Sonequa Martin-Green will be portraying Lena, Danny’s partner at Boston PD. She is the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family. She expressed how excited she was to work with Donnie on the upcoming offshoot.
“Listen, he already built, he and everyone there at Blue Bloods, in front of and behind the camera, they built something that lasts. Not only has it already lasted, I think it’s going to continue to last and that’s because I think family was at the center of it, in front of and behind the camera. With this man, and everything he’s accomplished in his life and how important he is to our society, it’s a big deal to come into this legacy, having come from my own legacy,” the Walking Dead alum told Extra in May 2025.
In addition to her role as Sasha in The Walking Dead, you may recognize her from Star Trek: Discovery.
Ernie Hudson
Ghostbusters actor Ernie Hudson was cast in Boston Blue. He will play “Reverend Peters, a renowned pastor of an historic Baptist church in Boston. An open-minded, welcoming man that is comfortable in all traditions, he is happy to preside at his church’s traditional Sunday Baptist service. Reverend Peters is the father of Mae Silver, Boston’s District Attorney, and grandfather of Det. Lena Silver, Superintendent Ashley Silver, and rookie patrol cop, Isaac Silver.”
