Irina Shayk Talks Motherhood Following Bradley Cooper Split: ‘You Have to Be Truly Yourself for Your Kids’

Even though she is dealing from her split with Bradley Cooper, Irina Shayk is still focusing on what matters most: her daughter — and she recently touched on dealing with being a mom.

“You have to be really truly yourself for your kids, otherwise you’re living in a lie,” the 33-year-old told Harper’s Bazaar in a new interview. “Tell me one reason why, just because you’re a mother, that you need to wear a longer skirt. No! I don’t believe in that. I really don’t … Why should you have to change who you are and how you feel just because you become a mother? I’m like, tell me why.”

“Tell me one reason! I don’t believe in that … I really believe if you love something, you can prioritize your time. [Motherhood] is just an addition to your life,” the model added.

Irina shares one child — Lea De Seine Shayk Cooper, 2, with her ex Bradley, 44. This past June, a source confirmed to Closer Weekly that the pair had parted ways after dating for four years. “Bradley wasn’t able to be the partner Irina needed during the filming and promoting of A Star Is Born,” an insider told Us Weekly of the actor’s directorial debut. “He was so focused on making sure it was perfect.”

However, just like Irina, the Silver Linings Playbook star is also all about his only child. “They both want to keep it civil for [her] sake,” another source recently revealed to the outlet about the former couple’s coparenting plans. “They’ll coordinate to make sure their daughter is always with one parent. When Lea has important events in her life, both Bradley and Irina will be there.”

Since the Hollywood exes “both work and have a nanny,” the insider said the two plan on splitting custody of Lea to make it easier on her.
