Bradley Cooper Reportedly ‘Wasn’t Able to Be the Partner’ Irina Shayk ‘Needed’ During ‘A Star Is Born’

After news broke that Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk had broken up after four years of dating, fans were eager to find out why the two lovebirds called it quits — especially for the sake of their 2 year old daughter, Lea. Well, according to Us Weekly, it’s because Bradley’s put  A Star Is Born, above the couple’s relationship.

“Bradley wasn’t able to be the partner Irina needed during the filming and promoting of A Star Is Born,” the source said of the actor’s directorial debut. “He was so focused on making sure it was perfect.” Perfect it was! Bradley earned three Oscar nominations for A Star Is Born and the film also helped costar Lady Gaga snag a trophy for Best Original Song at the 91st Academy Awards earlier this year.

“If you’re at home and you’re sitting on your couch, all I have to say is this is hard work. I’ve been working for a long time,” the “Born This Way” singer said while accepting the coveted award. “It’s not about winning. What it’s about is not giving up.”

Although it might be surprising that Bradley and Irina decided to go their separate ways, multiple sources previously told In Touch the former couple has been “on the verge of splitting for months.” Apparently, they “tried to make it work for the sake of their daughter,” but the reality is that they “both have busy lives and careers which has made the process very long and drawn out.”

Another source said Bradley and Irina “never had a strong foundation to begin with” and have “very little in common.” With these reports, it seems like their breakup had nothing to do with Bradley’s onscreen love interest Lady Gaga.

We just hope these two are able to work through their differences and be great coparents for their little girl!
