Celine Dion Quietly Dating After Death of Rene Angelil: Health Battle ‘Hit Home How Fleeting Life Is’ (Exclusive)

Céline Dion’s heart is going on.

A source tells Closer that the Canadian songstress, 58, has been quietly dipping her toe in the dating pool, a decade after she lost her late husband René Angélil to throat cancer in 2016.

“Céline is in a much better place these days and starting to feel like herself again, which has opened the door to the idea of dating,” reveals the source. “No one will ever replace René, he will always be her one true soulmate, but she’s reached a point where she feels ready to have some companionship in her life.”

That has only become more apparent amid her ongoing battle with stiff person syndrome.

“Her illness really hit home how fleeting life is, and how quickly it can change,” says the source, “and now that she’s feeling strong again, her lust for life has returned in full force — she wants to make the most of every moment she has left.”

Dion isn’t looking to settle down with just anyone, though.

“She’s not in some desperate rush to fall in love again,” Closer’s source notes. “She says she feels like her life is very full, but she’s also decided that she’s done cutting herself off from that part of life.”

Still, it’s a “big step” for the single mother of three, adds the source, and “everyone in her life is cheering this on,” especially sons René-Charles, 25, and 15-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy. “They want to see her happy and truth be told, they do worry about her being on her own when they fly the nest.”
