Chad Lowe Mourns Daughter Fiona, 13: ‘She Was the Light of Our Lives’

Actor Chad Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter, are sharing their heartbreak over the death of one of their daughters. According to People on September 29, the couple’s daughter Fiona Hepler Lowe, 13, has died.

A statement about the tragic loss was shared with the media outlet. The family’s statement read, “We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona.”

Fiona was “a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance,” the family noted. They added, “She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives.”

The statement continued, “Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.” The statement also included information for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

Lowe and Painter have three daughters together. Their oldest, Mabel, is 17, and the youngest, Nixie, is 10. Painter and Lowe have been married since August 2010.

Fiona turned 13 in November 2025, an occasion Lowe proudly shared on Instagram. “Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”

As fans learn about Fiona’s death, many are commenting on that specific Instagram post of Lowe’s, sharing their support and condolences.

“My heart is breaking for your family. I am so very sorry to the Painter Lowe family for your tremendous loss. Fly the highest, sweet Fiona,” read one comment.

Another person added, “My most heartfelt condolences for the unimaginable loss of your precious daughter Fiona. May she fligh high in eternal joy and peace.”

As People noted, the Lowe family also lost their house in the 2025 Pacific Palisades fire. In an Instagram post shared in February 2025, Lowe praised all three of his daughters for their strength.

The photo that the former Life Goes On star included showed the girls standing at the site where their house once stood. Sadly, almost nothing remained. Lowe, who also starred on Pretty Little Liars, wrote that it had been nearly a month since the family left the home, and this was the first time his daughters had returned to the property to see the devastation for themselves.

“The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable,” Lowe wrote. He continued, “I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege.”
