Even after becoming one of country music’s biggest stars, many listeners say Lainey Wilson still feels refreshingly real. From recognizing longtime supporters at concerts to proudly embracing her Louisiana roots, many believe fame hasn’t changed the singer one bit.

Fans recently praised Wilson after she paused mid-show to acknowledge a longtime supporter in the crowd. It was a moment that many online said proves she hasn’t lost touch with where she came from.

A YouTube response read, “Just a glimpse of your impact on the women, ladies and young girls Lainey. Your authentic and humble character speaks very loud to those who find comfort and healing in your songs.”

A supporter on Facebook wrote, “That’s who Lainey is —[Louisiana] Girl who never forgets where she came from!”

On YouTube, another supporter gushed over Wilson’s reaction at the concert. “Thank you Lainey for staying real in this ever changing world.”

“We need more stars like her!! She’s down to [Earth], humble, regular human being, caring, kind, and doesn’t get all crazed like so many others,” added another listener on Facebook.

Wilson once told Billboard, “I just try to take care of what I have, and I take a lot of pride in what we’ve grown.” She also explained, “It’s important for me to be proud of where I come from and the way that I was raised, but not dwell on it too much.”

That authenticity has also caught the attention of some of country music’s biggest names.

The “Heart Like a Truck” singer has said that Dolly Parton is her idol, and Parton thinks highly of Wilson, too. Parton told Billboard, “People feel her heart and soul in what she writes because she knows what they know, feels what they feel, and has the gift to present it in words.”

Even Parton sees something familiar in Wilson’s grounded personality. “I believe Lainey, like myself, will never sacrifice her principles and values for a dollar bill.”

Those same values continue to define how fans describe her today.

As Wilson’s career continues to soar, many fans say what they admire most about her isn’t the fame or the awards. It’s the feeling that the same Louisiana girl they first rooted for is still the one standing on stage today.
